Cives Steel New England Division is located in Augusta, Maine and is the largest supplier of fabricated structural steel in New England. We provide steel for large commercial and industrial projects.

We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Clerk/HR Assistant to join our team. The Payroll Clerk/HR Assistant will be responsible for assisting with payroll and benefit processing, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

- Schedule: Monday – Thursday 7:30 AM – 4:15 PM, Friday 7:30am – 3:30pm

What We Are Looking for:
- Familiarity with human resources practices
- Experience working with Excel
- Data entry experience
- Clerical/administrative office experience
- Comfortable answering phone and working with the employees answering questions
- Attention to detail
- Good attendance required
What You'll Do As A Payroll Clerk/HR Assistant
– Assist in processing payroll for employees
– Maintain payroll and benefit information by collecting, calculating, and entering data
– Prepare reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages
– Resolve payroll discrepancies by reviewing time entries and records reports from Supervisors
– Update payroll records by entering changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job reclassifications
– Provide payroll and benefit information by answering questions and requests
– Maintain payroll operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes
